Made with Bénédictine - the traditional herbal liqueur from Normandy
first made by Bénédictine monks as a medicinal elixir in the 16th
century. This cocktail recipe is made from equal quantities of Bénédictine
and hot water – ideal to heat you up from the inside on a cold winter’s
day. At the end of the First World War, the 11th Battalion of the East Lancashire
Regiment were stationed in Normandy near to where Bénédictine is
made – and developed a taste for the liqueur mixed with hot water. The
Bene’n’Hot soon became their preferred tipple due to its supposed
medicinal and fortifying properties which kept them going during the final winter
of the war. When returning home, the soldiers found the warming qualities of
a Bene’n’Hot equally effective against the cold of the Lancashire
winters. In the Burnley and Blackburn area of Lancashire – this is still
one of the most popular mixed drinks today having been passed down through the
generations.

This is a delicious liqueur coffee making it the ideal end to a special meal
or to unwind at the end of an evening. Made with Disaronno
Amaretto, De Kuyper
Crème de Cacao Brown and cognac, topped up with hot black filter coffee
with whipped cream floated on the top. The hot coffee blended with the warming
cognac plus the chocolate flavour of the De Kuyper Crème de Cacao Brown
and the marzipan flavours of Disaronno creates the ultimate in rich coffee cocktails.
